Witchy Book Review: The Practical Witch's Spell Book by Cerridwen Greenleaf

As a new witch

it's very easy to get overwhelmed with all the things people say you need to start working on your craft. I had no idea where to start but i knew a need a simple, straight forward book to help me get started so did a little googling and this book was the most highly recommended for beginners.

My favorite part of the cover is the word ''Practical'' in big, bold letters.

As i read the introduction, The Art of Practical Witchcraft the first few sentences had me feeling warm and light inside. These introduction pages gave me a boost of confidence and excitement to read the rest of the book.

In each chapter there's a 5-minute magic segment that i absolutely love. Also, on every page are lovely illustrations by Mara Penny that bring life to every page.

The first chapter Essential Tools for Making Magic, She specifies how important it is to cleanse your tools and how to do it. After an explanation of each tool, there's instructions on how to use it in practical ways and also how to charge them with energy. I love how she makes sure you know you can make your tools out of basic items and they don't have to be antiques.

There's a chapter called Setting Up Your Altar and there's a short history of altars and different types of altars you can create. And many spells for cleansing and blessing your space or spaces. My favorite chapter is definitely Good Spells for Healing. Healing is the main reason i got into witchcraft and this chapter has been beyond helpful for me. There's a list of herbs to use and even which herbs work best for each astrological sign. I didn't even know lemon balm is good for anxiety and it made sense since it's one of my favorite smells that calms me down.

The Rituals for Love and Romance chapter has me very intrigued because most of the love spells i've seen are very complicated but the ones in this book are very simple and don't scare me away from trying them. My favorite is the Love Spell Charm Box that i am going to try very soon. There are also money spells and charms, house charms guidance on candle magic and celestial magic, information on sacred sabbats and my second favorite chapter: Spells For Everyday. And The Appendix is full of so much helpful information that i didn't even expect.

In conclusion, EVERY WITCH NEEDS THIS BOOK.

I'm not even joking, it's so helpful and informative for witches who've been practicing for years or just started. I go back to it every time i'm about cast a spell or even when i just feel like reading up some more.

Get this book.
